TAFSEER OF Qur’an 102 (SUURAH AL-TAKAATHUR), WITH CONTEXT, COMMENTARY, MEANINGS, and PRACTICAL LESSONS WE CAN APPLY IN OUR DAILY LIFE.

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum As-sabt, 28th day of Rajab, 1447AH, Saturday, 17th January, 2026.

BismilLah.

This suurah is warning against being distracted by wealth, status, and material competition from remembrance of ALLAH Azzawajal and the Hereafter.

CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND OF REVELATION

The suurah was revealed in Makkah, where Quraysh society was deeply involved in: Boasting about wealth, lineage, and numbers

competing in status, children, followers, and possessions. Measuring success by material abundance. Some narrations mention that rival tribes would count their living members, and even go to graveyards to count the dead to prove superiority. ALLAH Azzawajal revealed this suurah to condemn this empty competition and redirect human focus toward accountability in the Hereafter.

VERSE-BY-VERSE TAFSĪR AND COMMENTARY

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

I begin in the of ALLAH, The Most Gracious, The most Merciful.

1. أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ

Competition for more wealth and status has distracted you. Alhākum means it diverted, preoccupied, and deceived you.

At-takāthur refers to competing in:

Wealth, Children, Property, Social status.

👉 Meaning: People become so busy chasing “more” that they forget their purpose of life which it to worship of ALLAH Azzawajal. To be continued tomorrow in Shaa ALLAH. May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences. Aameen.

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaumul ahad, 29th day of Rajab, 1447AH, Sunday, 18th January, 2026.

TAFSEER OF Qur’an 102 (SUURAH AL-TAKAATHUR), continues. BismilLah.

Alhamdulillah in yesterday's reminder, we studied about the main theme of the suurah, historical Context and also the first verse of the suurah in which ALLAH Azzawajal reminded us not to allow wealth, children, property, social status etc to distract us from HIS remembrance. Let's continue to verse 2.

 حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ

Until you reach or visit the grave.

This reminds us that, death is not permanent, resurrection will follow.

People remain distracted until death wakes them up.

👉 Powerful reminder: Many only realize reality when it is too late.

3. كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ

No indeed! You will soon come to know.

4. ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ

Again, no indeed! You will soon come to know.

A strong warning and emphasis.

Repetition increases seriousness

Scholars say: First refers to knowledge at death. Second refers to knowledge on Judgment Day. Allahu Akbar. To be continued tomorrow in Shaa ALLAH. May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences. Aameen.

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum al-ithnayn, 30th day of Rajab, 1447AH, Monday, 19th January, 2026. TAFSEER OF Qur’an 102 (SUURAH AL-TAKAATHUR), continue. BismilLah.

Let's continue with our studies of suurah Al-Takaathur.

5. كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ الْيَقِينِ

If only you knew with certainty.

If people truly understood the Hereafter, they would not live carelessly.

6. لَتَرَوُنَّ الْجَحِيمَ

You will surely see the Hellfire.

A definite and terrifying statement

Everyone will see Hellfire:

Believers will cross over it.

Disbelievers will fall into it

7. ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ الْيَقِينِ

Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty. Reality will become undeniable.

8. ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ

Then, on that Day, you will certainly be questioned about ˹your worldly˺ pleasures which includes:

Health, Time, Food and water, Wealth, Safety, Family etc. Even simple comforts Allahu Akbar.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“A servant’s feet will not move on the Day of Judgment until he is asked about his life, his youth, his wealth, how he earned it and how he spent it.”(Tirmidhī). To be continued tomorrow with some practical Lessons for Our Daily Life. May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences. Aameen.

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Al-Khamis. 25th day of RAJAB, 1444AH (Thursday 16th February. 2023). TOLERANCE WITH PEOPLE IN ISLAM. BismilLaah.  Tolerance (samah) is an important trait of a Muslim’s good character. We Muslims should be kind and gentle, patient with people, forgiving of bad character, and lenient whenever possible. The Prophet Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam commanded us to avoid causing unnecessary difficulty and hardship in people’s lives and to inspire people with graceful speech. Make things easy and do not make things difficult. Give glad tidings and do not repel people. Cooperate with each other and do not become divided. Sahih Bukhari 2873, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi. This command is closely related to the need of a Muslim to control his or her anger. Unrestrained anger leads to numerous sins and bad deeds, so Muslims must temper their anger with patience, tolerance, and the ability to hold back harmful words. Teasing, mockery, insults to others et...
DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawm Al-khamis, 30th day of Rajab 1446AH, Thursday. 30th Jan. 2025). MEANING OF ALLAH CREATING HUMANS IN HIS OWN IMAGE.  BismilLah. Unfortunately, other faiths have made a serious mistake in trying to compare The CREATOR, ALLAH Azzawajal with HIS Creation human beings in physical appearance, and that's blasphemy and serious error  Sheikh AbuAmina, in one of his articles, explained that, in Islam, we believe that all people have been created in the “image” of ALLAH Azzawajal. But what does this mean? ALLAH Azzawajal is the creator of everything, including all people. That people are in the “image of ALLAH Azzawajal” means they are in the form that HE, ALLAH Azzawajal has chosen and honored for them, not that they resemble ALLAH Azzawajal in physical appearance or share in the Divine Essence. Just as we say a righteous person is the “servant of ALLAH” and a mosque is the “house of ALLAH” as a way to honor them, likewise is it an added dignity for pe...
THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaum ar-ba'a. 7th day of Jumaadal Aakhir.. (Wednesday 20th January 2021). Who are Believers. BismilLah.  Lets check in  Suurah Al-Mu'minun (The Believers). ALLAH says; 1. Successful indeed are the believers.  2. Those who offer their Salaat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness. 3. And those who turn away from Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and all that ALLAH has forbidden).  4. Those who pay the Zakat . 5. Those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) 6. Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; etc ALLAH, the Most High, says “…for verily ALLAH is with those who believe.”[Al Qur’an 8:19] When ALLAH says that “HE is with the believers”, it means that the believers don’t need anyone else. Rasullulah(sallallahu alaihi wasallam) has said “Be mindful of ALLAH, and ALLAH will protect you. Be m...
