DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Arba'a, 25th day of Rajab, 1447AH, Wednesday, 14th January, 2026

TAFSEER OF Qur’an 103 (SUURAH AL-ASR), WITH CONTEXT, COMMENTARY, MEANINGS, and PRACTICAL LESSONS WE CAN APPLY IN OUR DAILY LIFE. BismilLah.

Suurah Al-‘Aṣr is a short chapter with a powerful message. Despite only 3 verses, scholars said it summarizes the entire path of success and failure of humanity.

Imaam al-Shafi'i may ALLAH be pleased with him said: “If people reflected deeply on this suurah alone, it would be sufficient for them.”

Historical Context:

Revealed in Makkah, when Muslims were few and under pressure. It addressed human heedlessness, reminding people that time is running out and must not be wasted. Early Muslims would recite this suurah to one another before parting, as a reminder of purpose.

Text and Meaning:

Verse 1

وَالْعَصْرِ

“By Time.”  ALLAH Azzawajal swears by time, showing its عظيمة (great importance). Time is the container of human actions: every good or evil happens within it.

“Al-‘Asr” also points to the passing of life. The decline towards the end.

A warning that opportunities are disappearing.

Verse 2

إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ

“Indeed, mankind is in loss.” This is a general rule: every human being is losing. Loss here means: Wasted life, Missed purpose. Ultimate failure in the Hereafter. Wealth, health, and status do not remove this loss by themselves. To be continued tomorrow with some practical Lessons for Our Daily Life. May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences. Aameen.

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-khamis, 26th day of Rajab, 1447AH, Thursday, 15th January, 2026. TAFSEER OF Qur’an 103 (SUURAH AL-ASR), WITH CONTEXT, COMMENTARY, MEANINGS, and PRACTICAL LESSONS WE CAN APPLY IN OUR DAILY LIFE continues. BismilLah.

Let's continue with our studies of suuratul Asr (Qur’an 103).

Verse 3

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ

وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ

وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ

“Except those who: Believe, Do righteous deeds, Encourage one another to truth, Encourage one another to patience.” ALLAH Azzawajal gives four (4) conditions for salvation:

EEMAAN (Faith): Correct belief in ALLAH Azzawajal and HIS guidance.

RIGHTEOUS ACTIONS: Faith must show in behavior. Calling to truth. Islam is not selfish; we help others

Patience, needed for obedience, hardship, and da‘wah

These cover: Personal reform, Social responsibility, Spiritual endurance etc.

Themes of the Suurah

The value of time.

The reality of loss.

The balance between belief and action.

Community responsibility.

Patience as a lifelong necessity.

To be continued tomorrow with some practical Lessons for Our Daily Life.

May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences. Aameen.

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaumul Jumuat, 27th day of Rajab, 1447AH, Friday, 16th January, 2026.

PRACTICAL LESSONS FROM SUURATUL ASR (Qur’an 103) FOR OUR DAILY LIFE. BismilLah.

Alhamdulillah for granting us the opportunity to be part of this blessed day of the week.

Let's conclude with our studies of suuratul Asr with the following practical Lessons.

1. Let's Value our Time. Every hour is either profit or loss. Let's reduce time-wasting habits. Schedule worship, family, and self-improvement.

2. Faith Must Show in Actions.

Salah, honesty, kindness, and good character matter. Good intentions without action are not enough.

3. Islam Is Not Individualistic.

Advise family and friends gently

Stand for truth at work and in society.

4. Be Patient with People and Problems. Patience in hardship,

Patience in worship, Patience when spreading good.

5. Measure Success Correctly.

Not by money or fame but by faith, deeds, truth, and perseverance.

Ask yourself each day:

Did my time bring me closer to ALLAH Azzawajal?.

Did my actions reflect my faith?

Did I help someone toward truth?

Did I respond with patience?

Conclusion

Suurah Al-‘Aṣr is a life formula:

Without faith, action, truth, and patience, loss is guaranteed.

With them, success is promised.

May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences. Aameen.

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Al-Khamis. 25th day of RAJAB, 1444AH (Thursday 16th February. 2023). TOLERANCE WITH PEOPLE IN ISLAM. BismilLaah.  Tolerance (samah) is an important trait of a Muslim’s good character. We Muslims should be kind and gentle, patient with people, forgiving of bad character, and lenient whenever possible. The Prophet Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam commanded us to avoid causing unnecessary difficulty and hardship in people’s lives and to inspire people with graceful speech. Make things easy and do not make things difficult. Give glad tidings and do not repel people. Cooperate with each other and do not become divided. Sahih Bukhari 2873, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi. This command is closely related to the need of a Muslim to control his or her anger. Unrestrained anger leads to numerous sins and bad deeds, so Muslims must temper their anger with patience, tolerance, and the ability to hold back harmful words. Teasing, mockery, insults to others et...
DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawmul ahad, 17th day of Sha’abaan 1446AH, Sunday. 16th Feb. 2025). THE TRUE MEANINGS OF THE WORD DEEN continues. BismilLah.  ALLAH (Azza Wa Jal, The MIGHTY and the MAJESTIC) has sent HIS Messenger with the true deen for the purpose of ending the sovereignty of all false gods and granting us immense freedom so that we live as servants of none but the LORD of the UNIVERSE, no matter how much the idolaters and polytheists may dislike or oppose such a course. Thus, these three meanings of deen stand out: To acknowledge ALLAH as the ONLY LORD, MASTER and RULER. To obey and serve ONLY HIM. To be accountable to HIM, to fear only HIS punishment and to covet only HIS reward. Deen also includes obedience to ALLAH'S Messengers. The commandments of ALLAH Azzawajal have been given to human beings through HIS books and HIS Messengers. ALLAH Azzawajal says; Children of Aadam! If there should come to you Messengers from among you, who convey MY revelations unto you, ...

ALLAH says; 1. Successful indeed are the believers.  2. Those who offer their Salaat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness. 3. And those who turn away from Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and all that ALLAH has forbidden).  4. Those who pay the Zakat . 5. Those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) 6. Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; etc ALLAH, the Most High, says “…for verily ALLAH is with those who believe.”[Al Qur’an 8:19] When ALLAH says that “HE is with the believers”, it means that the believers don’t need anyone else. Rasullulah(sallallahu alaihi wasallam) has said “Be mindful of ALLAH, and ALLAH will protect you. Be m...
