DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaumul ahad, 22nd day of Rajab, 1447AH, Sunday, 11th January, 2026.

TAFSEER OF Qur’an 104 (SUURAH AL-HUMAZAH), WITH CONTEXT, COMMENTARY, MEANINGS, and PRACTICAL LESSONS WE CAN APPLY IN OUR DAILY LIFE. BismilLah.

This suurah is about Condemnation of slander, mockery, arrogance, and obsession with wealth.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT:

Suurah Al-Humazah was revealed in Makkah, a society where:

Social status was measured by wealth and lineage. The powerful people mocked the poor and weak people. Backbiting, name-calling, and humiliation were common.

Wealth was seen as a guarantee of honour and security. Some scholars mention individuals like Umayyah ibn Khalaf or Al-Walīd ibn al-Mughīrah as examples, but the surah is universal, addressing anyone who displays these traits.

This suurah strongly warns that:

Moral corruption of the tongue and heart leads to spiritual destruction

Text, Meaning & Commentary:

Verse 1

وَيْلٌ لِكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُمَزَةٍ

“Woe to every slanderer and backbiter.”

Commentary:

“Woe (Wayl)”: A severe warning, some scholars say it is a valley in Hell. Humazah: One who mocks openly (gestures, actions).

Lumazah: One who insults secretly (speech, gossip)

🔹 Islam condemns both public mockery and private backbiting

Verses 2–3

الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ ۝ يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ

“Who collects wealth and counts it repeatedly, thinking his wealth will make him immortal.”

Commentary:

Constant counting shows obsession, greed, and insecurity

Wealth creates false confidence and arrogance. Such people believe money protects them from loss, death, or accountability

🔹 Wealth becomes a test when it replaces reliance on ALLAH. To be continued tomorrow in Shaa ALLAH. May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences. Aameen.

*TAFSEER OF Qur’an 104 (SUURAH AL-HUMAZAH) continues. BismilLah.

Let's continue from yesterday's reminder.

Verses 4–5

كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ ۝ وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ

“No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher. And what will make you know what the Crusher is?”

Commentary:

Al-Ḥuṭamah comes from ḥaṭama (to crush, shatter). A Hellfire that breaks pride, ego, and arrogance

ALLAH Azzawajal pauses the verse to emphasize its horror

Verse 6–7

نَارُ اللَّهِ الْمُوقَدَةُ ۝ الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ

“It is the kindled Fire of ALLAH, which reaches the hearts.”

Commentary:

Unlike worldly fire, this fire:

Penetrates the heart, the center of intentions. Punishes arrogance, envy, and malice

🔹 The punishment matches the crime, corruption of the heart.

Verses 8–9

إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ ۝ فِي عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍ

“Indeed, it will be closed over them, in extended pillars.” Commentary:

No escape, No relief, No hope of rescue. This reflects the finality of divine justice. To be continued tomorrow with some practical Lessons for Our Daily Life. May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences. BismilLah.

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum athalaatha, 24th day of Rajab, 1447AH, Tuesday, 13th January, 2026. PRACTICAL LESSONS FOR OUR DAILY LIFE FROM SUURATUL HUMAZAH, QUR’AN 104. BismilLah.

Let's conclude our studies of suuratul HUMAZAH with some practical Lessons below;

1. Guarding our Tongue by avoiding:

Gossiping, Mocking, insults etc.

Ask before speaking:

“Would I say this if the person were present?”

2. Respect Others Regardless of Status. Islam rejects classism.

Honour is based on taqwā, not income, job, or background.

3. Use Wealth as a Tool, Not an Idol. Wealth should help others, Support family, Strengthen worship

Regular charity (ṣadaqah) softens the heart

4. Check Your Heart Regularly. Are you Proud? Envious? Looking down on others?

Make daily duʿāʾ:

“O ALLAH, purify my heart and my tongue.”

5. Remember Accountability. Every word is recorded. Every intention is known. The Hereafter is real and eternal.

A person may think mockery is harmless and wealth is security, but ALLAH Azzawajal reminds us that the tongue and the heart will be questioned before the bank balance. May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences Aameen.

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Al-Khamis. 25th day of RAJAB, 1444AH (Thursday 16th February. 2023). TOLERANCE WITH PEOPLE IN ISLAM. BismilLaah.  Tolerance (samah) is an important trait of a Muslim’s good character. We Muslims should be kind and gentle, patient with people, forgiving of bad character, and lenient whenever possible. The Prophet Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam commanded us to avoid causing unnecessary difficulty and hardship in people’s lives and to inspire people with graceful speech. Make things easy and do not make things difficult. Give glad tidings and do not repel people. Cooperate with each other and do not become divided. Sahih Bukhari 2873, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi. This command is closely related to the need of a Muslim to control his or her anger. Unrestrained anger leads to numerous sins and bad deeds, so Muslims must temper their anger with patience, tolerance, and the ability to hold back harmful words. Teasing, mockery, insults to others et...
DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawm Al-khamis, 30th day of Rajab 1446AH, Thursday. 30th Jan. 2025). MEANING OF ALLAH CREATING HUMANS IN HIS OWN IMAGE.  BismilLah. Unfortunately, other faiths have made a serious mistake in trying to compare The CREATOR, ALLAH Azzawajal with HIS Creation human beings in physical appearance, and that's blasphemy and serious error  Sheikh AbuAmina, in one of his articles, explained that, in Islam, we believe that all people have been created in the “image” of ALLAH Azzawajal. But what does this mean? ALLAH Azzawajal is the creator of everything, including all people. That people are in the “image of ALLAH Azzawajal” means they are in the form that HE, ALLAH Azzawajal has chosen and honored for them, not that they resemble ALLAH Azzawajal in physical appearance or share in the Divine Essence. Just as we say a righteous person is the “servant of ALLAH” and a mosque is the “house of ALLAH” as a way to honor them, likewise is it an added dignity for pe...
THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaum ar-ba'a. 7th day of Jumaadal Aakhir.. (Wednesday 20th January 2021). Who are Believers. BismilLah.  Lets check in  Suurah Al-Mu'minun (The Believers). ALLAH says; 1. Successful indeed are the believers.  2. Those who offer their Salaat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness. 3. And those who turn away from Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and all that ALLAH has forbidden).  4. Those who pay the Zakat . 5. Those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) 6. Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; etc ALLAH, the Most High, says “…for verily ALLAH is with those who believe.”[Al Qur’an 8:19] When ALLAH says that “HE is with the believers”, it means that the believers don’t need anyone else. Rasullulah(sallallahu alaihi wasallam) has said “Be mindful of ALLAH, and ALLAH will protect you. Be m...
