DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawm athalaatha, 2nd day of Jumaad-athaani 1446AH, 3th Dec. 2024). Prohibition of Show-off in any way or shape. BismilLah.
ALLAH, the Exalted, says:
"Do not render in vain your Sadaqah (charity) by reminders of your generosity or by injury, like him who spends his wealth to be seen of men.'' (2:264). Abu Hurairah (May ALLAH be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of ALLAH (PBUH) said, "Almighty ALLAH says, `I am the One Who is most free from want of partners. He who does a thing for the sake of someone else beside ME, I discard him and his polytheism..''[by Imam Muslim].
This hadith basically means not to do something virtuous for a mere show for worldly benefit or to gain the reputation of being pious else. ALLAH will nullify the good deeds and deprive such person of the reward. This warning is for doing good deeds for showing off. What about committing sins for show off? Worse punishment, isn't it? Let's study our deen and avoid acting without knowledge as ALLAH will punish us in dunya for whatever bad we do.
May ALLAH protect us all from any kind of satanic influences. Aameen.
