THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm As-Sabt. 22nd day of Rajab, 1445AH (Saturday, 3rd February 2024). MEANING OF AQIQAH ON THE 7TH DAY. BismilLah.

Unfortunately, the majority of us were raised in communities where aqiqah on 7th day was and is still considered by some as the day the child was born.  This means that if a child is born on Monday,  some slaughter the following Monday, which is not the correct understanding of the sunnah even though there is nothing wrong with that to argue about. The reason for this topic today is to avoid unnecessary arguments on topics that divide us if not obligatory because the division is haraam.

The Messenger of ALLAH (blessings and peace of ALLAH be upon him) said: “Every child is in pledge for his ‘aqiqah, which MAY be sacrificed for him on the seventh day, and he should be given a name and his head should be shaved.” Narrated by at-Tirmidhi (1522), an-Nasa’i (4220), and Abu Dawud (2838).

Scholars have said: The words “which may be sacrificed for him on the seventh day” means that it should be slaughtered on the seventh day. In other words, it is Sunnah to slaughter it on the seventh day. So if the child was born on Saturday, it should be slaughtered on Friday, one day before the day of the week on which he was born. This is the basic principle. And if he was born on Thursday, then it should be slaughtered on Wednesday, and so on.

With regard to naming the child, he may be given his name on the first day, or the seventh, because of the hadith of Anas ibn Malik (may ALLAH be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of ALLAH (blessings and peace of ALLAH be upon him) said: “Last night a boy was born to me, and I have named him after my father, Ibrahim.” Narrated by Muslim (3126).

There is nothing wrong with slaughtering the ‘aqiqah on any day; the same applies to naming the child according to Scholars so there isnt the need to argue on this as its sunnah not obligatory to slaughter on the 7th day. May ALLAH keep guiding us all and protect us from any satanic influences. Aameen.

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Al-Khamis. 25th day of RAJAB, 1444AH (Thursday 16th February. 2023). TOLERANCE WITH PEOPLE IN ISLAM. BismilLaah.  Tolerance (samah) is an important trait of a Muslim’s good character. We Muslims should be kind and gentle, patient with people, forgiving of bad character, and lenient whenever possible. The Prophet Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam commanded us to avoid causing unnecessary difficulty and hardship in people’s lives and to inspire people with graceful speech. Make things easy and do not make things difficult. Give glad tidings and do not repel people. Cooperate with each other and do not become divided. Sahih Bukhari 2873, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi. This command is closely related to the need of a Muslim to control his or her anger. Unrestrained anger leads to numerous sins and bad deeds, so Muslims must temper their anger with patience, tolerance, and the ability to hold back harmful words. Teasing, mockery, insults to others et...
DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawmul ahad, 17th day of Sha’abaan 1446AH, Sunday. 16th Feb. 2025). THE TRUE MEANINGS OF THE WORD DEEN continues. BismilLah.  ALLAH (Azza Wa Jal, The MIGHTY and the MAJESTIC) has sent HIS Messenger with the true deen for the purpose of ending the sovereignty of all false gods and granting us immense freedom so that we live as servants of none but the LORD of the UNIVERSE, no matter how much the idolaters and polytheists may dislike or oppose such a course. Thus, these three meanings of deen stand out: To acknowledge ALLAH as the ONLY LORD, MASTER and RULER. To obey and serve ONLY HIM. To be accountable to HIM, to fear only HIS punishment and to covet only HIS reward. Deen also includes obedience to ALLAH'S Messengers. The commandments of ALLAH Azzawajal have been given to human beings through HIS books and HIS Messengers. ALLAH Azzawajal says; Children of Aadam! If there should come to you Messengers from among you, who convey MY revelations unto you, ...

ALLAH says; 1. Successful indeed are the believers.  2. Those who offer their Salaat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness. 3. And those who turn away from Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and all that ALLAH has forbidden).  4. Those who pay the Zakat . 5. Those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) 6. Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; etc ALLAH, the Most High, says “…for verily ALLAH is with those who believe.”[Al Qur’an 8:19] When ALLAH says that “HE is with the believers”, it means that the believers don’t need anyone else. Rasullulah(sallallahu alaihi wasallam) has said “Be mindful of ALLAH, and ALLAH will protect you. Be m...
