THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaumul Jumuat. 16th day of Ramadhan, 1444AH (Friday 7th April 2023). ZAKAAT ON LIVESTOCK. BismilLah.

Before we move to livestock, let me clarify from the Reminder yesterday that, if you can't be bothered to check how much 85grams of gold is worth to determine if your savings are enough to pay zakaat, just ignore that and check how much you have in savings or how much you are worth then pay 2.5% to the poor or needy. If your savings are not up to the required amount and you still pay 2.5% to the poor, you get rewarded as sadaqah anyway. ALLAH knows best.

Zakaat is obligatory on livestock such as camels, cattle, sheeps and goat if they are tended to for a year or more, freely grazing in a pasture land or vacant open lands. If thier amount reach the nisab(minimum required) and are in ones possession for a whole year, one pay zakaat on them if they were held for the purpose of milking and reproduction.

The amount to be paid for sheep and goat are as follows:

* The minimum nisaab below which one is not required to pay no zakat is forty (40) sheeps or goats.

Number of Sheep/Goat zakaat to be paid. 40 to 120 is One Sheep/Goat. 121 to 200 is 2. 201 to 300 Three. For every additional 100 One additional Sheep or Goat.

Number of cattle zakaat to be paid. 30 to 39 . A young bull or Cow of One year old. 40 to 59 . A young Cow of Two year old. 60 Two young Cows of One year old. For an additional 30 , A young Cow of One year old (that is for 90 cattles then you pay Three one year old cow and for 120 you pay 4 one year cow and so on). For an additional 40 , Two young Cows of One year old (That is for 80 cattles you pay two cows of two years old and so on).

The amount to be paid for Camels with five being the minimum nisaab below which one is not required to pay no zakat.

Number Of Camels Zakaat to be payed. 5 to 9 A Sheep. 10 to 14 Two Sheep. 15 to 19 Three Sheep

20 to 24 Four Sheep. 25 to 35 A she-Camel which is One year old

36 to 45 A she-Camel which is Two years old. 46 to 60 A she-Camel which is Three years old 71 to 75

A Four years old. 76 to 90 Two young she-Camels 91 to 120 Two three year old camels. 121 Three young she-camels. For every additional forty a young she-camel is due And for additional 50 Three years old she camel is due

If the livestock (camel, cattle sheep and goat) are for trade and investment and they are owned for one year, then 2.5% of there value will be given as zakaat.

But if they are not for trade then there is no such zakaat. When paying zakat only female animals are acceptable. A male is not sufficient except in the case of cattle or when given a camel which is a year or two years or three years old instead of a she-camel Or if all the livestock are male.

Please note that, all these are summarised from a collection of authentic scholarly books such as "The Book of Zakat (Tafheem-us-sunnah series-8) by M Iqbal Kailani, Also Fiqh az Zakat by Sheikh Yusuf al-Qardawi etc based on the Qur'an and Sunnah. You can research on all these to add to your knowledge in shaa ALLAH. May ALLAH increase us in beneficial knowledge. Aameen.

FIRST REMINDER. Yaumul ahad, 11th day of Shawwal (Sunday 23rd May 2021). * _ This may not be true story from a friend but very true and sad reality of our modern world _ * . BismilLah. “The house where I lived was about to be seized, just because I could not pay the rent. I tried to get help from all relatives I know but all saying they don't have so I posted my situation on Facebook looking for help, but all I could get is 2 "I like" and zero comment. So I sent 250 messages to my contact list requesting a loan of N5000. Unfortunately only 10 people responded. 6 out of 10 said they could not help me. And only 1 out of 4 who promised to help me and gave me some money less than I needed. The other 3 gave me no excuse and never answered my calls. In the end, I was ejected. I became homeless. I did not have a place to sleep. I walked in the dark looking for options and, unfortunately, a thief stole my empty purse with my ID. He was badly hit by a car in high speed as he fle...

Before climbing onto bed anytime of the day or night, dust the bed thrice with the corner of any clothe. Clean your teeth with Miswaak if possible or with brush and paste. Be in a state of wuduu. Sleep on the right side of your body facing the Qibla with the right hand underneath the head like a pillow and with the knees slightly bent.  Recite Aayatul Kursy and the last three chapters (Al-Ikhlaas, Al-Falaq, An-Naas) of the Quran, dry blow air to your palms then wipe over your entire body as much as possible, beginning with your head and face and then all parts of the body, do this 3 times if you can or atleast once whenever you are feeling lazy like myself sometimes😊. It's sunnah from the Prophet Muhammed sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Don't forget to offer your witir Salaat before sleeping or offer your two rakaats sha...
