THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Ath-thalaatha. 22nd day of Sha’abaan, 1444AH (Tuesday 14th March 2023). THERE MUST BE NO SHOW OFF IN OUR SADAQAH. BismilLah. 

In yesterday's reminder, I shared the saying of ALLAH in Qur'an 2:261 that we should spend our money or wealth as an investment with ALLAH by supporting our relatives and the needy. When you go to the next verse that's Qur'an 2:262, ALLAH then says,

ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ لَا يُتْبِعُونَ مَآ أَنفَقُوا۟ مَنًّا وَلَآ أَذًىۙ لَّهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ 

Those who spend their wealth in the way of ALLAH and then do not follow up what they have spent with reminders [of it] or [other] injury will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

This is a serious warning to those of us who give sadaqah to our relatives in particular then follow it with complaints or making everybody know about the sadaqah in a form of showing off or making the receiver feels without you they are nothing etc. ALLAH is warning us in this verse that we may lose our rewards because of that so we must be careful and ensure we give for ALLAH sake.
