THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaum Al-Sabt, 6th Jumaadal Awwal 1440, (Saturday, 12th January, 2019). CAN I OBEY MY PARENTS ORDER OR COMMANDS TO DIVORCE MY WIFE? BismilLaahir Rahmaanir Raheem. Undoubtedly our parents are those who are most deserving of respect, obedience and kind treatment. ALLAH mentions the command to treat parents well alongside the command to worship HIM as HE says (interpretation of the meaning): “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but HIM. And that you be dutiful to your parents”[al-Isra’ 17:23]. Obedience to parents is obligatory on the child with regard to that which will benefit them and will not harm the child or what is good. With regard to that which does not bring them any benefits or which will cause harm to the child, and more importantly goes agaist the commands of ALLAH, he does not have to obey them in that case. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may ALLAH have mercy on him) said in al-Ikhtiyaaraat (p. 114): A person is obliged to obey his parents with regard to that which is not sinful, even if they are immoral evildoers. This has to do with that which is beneficial for them and not harmful to him. Divorce with no acceptable reason is something that is hated by ALLAH, because it destroys the blessings of marriage and exposes the family to destruction and the children to loss. It may also involve injustice towards the woman. Based on this, he does not have to obey his parents and divorce his wife, and that is not regarded as being disobedient towards them. But the son should express his refusal to divorce her in a kind and gentle manner, because ALLAH says (interpretation of the meaning): “say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour [al-Isra’ 17:23]. You can only accept his recommendation to divorce her if she commit evil deeds and disobey ALLAH as Prophet Ibrahim Alaihi Salaam recommended his son Ismaeel to divorce his wife because she was not obedience to ALLAH and did not appreciate what ALLAH has bestowed on them. May ALLAH (Al-Haadi, The Guide) keep guiding us and our parents and protect us from any satanic influences. Aameen.

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Al-Khamis. 25th day of RAJAB, 1444AH (Thursday 16th February. 2023). TOLERANCE WITH PEOPLE IN ISLAM. BismilLaah.  Tolerance (samah) is an important trait of a Muslim’s good character. We Muslims should be kind and gentle, patient with people, forgiving of bad character, and lenient whenever possible. The Prophet Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam commanded us to avoid causing unnecessary difficulty and hardship in people’s lives and to inspire people with graceful speech. Make things easy and do not make things difficult. Give glad tidings and do not repel people. Cooperate with each other and do not become divided. Sahih Bukhari 2873, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi. This command is closely related to the need of a Muslim to control his or her anger. Unrestrained anger leads to numerous sins and bad deeds, so Muslims must temper their anger with patience, tolerance, and the ability to hold back harmful words. Teasing, mockery, insults to others et...
DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawmul ahad, 17th day of Sha’abaan 1446AH, Sunday. 16th Feb. 2025). THE TRUE MEANINGS OF THE WORD DEEN continues. BismilLah.  ALLAH (Azza Wa Jal, The MIGHTY and the MAJESTIC) has sent HIS Messenger with the true deen for the purpose of ending the sovereignty of all false gods and granting us immense freedom so that we live as servants of none but the LORD of the UNIVERSE, no matter how much the idolaters and polytheists may dislike or oppose such a course. Thus, these three meanings of deen stand out: To acknowledge ALLAH as the ONLY LORD, MASTER and RULER. To obey and serve ONLY HIM. To be accountable to HIM, to fear only HIS punishment and to covet only HIS reward. Deen also includes obedience to ALLAH'S Messengers. The commandments of ALLAH Azzawajal have been given to human beings through HIS books and HIS Messengers. ALLAH Azzawajal says; Children of Aadam! If there should come to you Messengers from among you, who convey MY revelations unto you, ...

ALLAH says; 1. Successful indeed are the believers.  2. Those who offer their Salaat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness. 3. And those who turn away from Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and all that ALLAH has forbidden).  4. Those who pay the Zakat . 5. Those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) 6. Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; etc ALLAH, the Most High, says “…for verily ALLAH is with those who believe.”[Al Qur’an 8:19] When ALLAH says that “HE is with the believers”, it means that the believers don’t need anyone else. Rasullulah(sallallahu alaihi wasallam) has said “Be mindful of ALLAH, and ALLAH will protect you. Be m...
