THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaum Arba'à, 14th day of Rabeeul Awwal 1440, (Wednesday, 21st November, 2018). OUR AQEEDAH AS MUSLIMS. Bismillaah
Aqeedah refers to those matters which are believed in, with certainty and conviction, in one’s heart and soul. They are not tainted with any doubt or uncertainty.
The Arabic word ‘aqeedah stems from the root ‘aqada, which conveys meanings of certainty, affirmation, confirmation, etc.
In Islam, ‘aqeedah is the matter of knowledge. The Muslim must believe in his heart and have faith and conviction, with no doubts or misgivings, because ALLAH has told him about ‘aqeedah in His Book and via His Revelations to HIS Messenger (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him).
The principles of ‘aqeedah are those which ALLAH has commanded us to believe in, as mentioned in the aayah
"The Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him from HIS Lord, and so do the believers. Each one believes in ALLAH, HIS Angels, HIS Books and HIS Messengers. They say, ‘We make no distinction between one and another of HIS Messengers’ and they say, ‘We hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to YOU is the return (of all).’" [al-Baqarah 2:285].
As defined by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in the famous hadeeth which describes how Jibreel came to him and asked him about Islam etc.: "Eemaan (faith) is to believe in ALLAH, HIS angels, HIS Books, the meeting with HIM on the Last Day, HIS Messengers, and the Day of Resurrection."
So in Islam, ‘aqeedah refers to the matters which are known from the Qur’aan and sound ahaadeeth, and which the Muslim must believe in his heart, in acknowledgement of the truth of ALLAH and HIS Messenger. As soon as you doubt anything ALLAH says in the Qur'an or the Prophet said in authentic Hadith, you've lost your eemaan or faith and Satan will begin to put doubt in your faith till you abandon Islam into idol worship or into deviated sects. AstaghfirulLah.
To prove that the claim of eeman (faith) is genuine, the effect of Aqeedah on the actions of the body must materialise; otherwise, this claim remains unfounded: ALLAH (Al-Hayyu, The Living) says;
Verily, those who believe [in the Oneness of ALLAH, and in HIS
Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him) including all obligations
ordered by Islam] and do righteous good deeds, they are the best of
creatures. [Surah Al-Bayyinah (98), Ayah 7. "But as for him who believes and works righteousness, he shall have the best reward (Paradise), "[Surah Al-Kahf (18), Ayah 88.
These are explicit indications which recur in many verses of the Qur’an in such a way that only those with a blurred vision or blind hearts would ignore them:
“Verily, it is not the eyes that grow blind, but it is the hearts which are
in the breasts that grow blind.”
[Surah Al-Hajj (22), Ayah 46.].
The Prophet’s statements are also replete with indications to the effect that good conduct is part and parcel of Eeman. The Prophet said: “Faith (or eeman) has over seventy branches; the most excellent of which is the declaration that there is none worthy of worship but ALLAH, and the humblest of which is the removal of what is injurious from the road; and modesty is a branch of faith.” Allahu Akbar.
May ALLAH (Al-Qayyuum, The Maintainer of Life) aid us in following the Prophet footsteps as the salafs did bcs they were approved and certified by ALLAH. May ALLAH (Al-Haadi, The Guide) have mercy on our Muslim brothers and sisters under any form of oppression and humiliate the oppressors or guide those who seek guidance. Aameen.
