FIRST REMINDER. Yaum Al-Jumuat, 13th day of RAJAB (30th March). THE BEST DAY OF THE WEEK. BismilLaahir Rahmaanir Raheem.
Alhamdulillah for blessing us with another Mini Eid day jumuat. The term ‘Jumuah’ is derived from the Arabic root word ‘Jama’ which means a gathering; thus ‘Yaum-ul-Jumuah’ or Friday means the ‘day of gathering’, and the ‘Jumuah’ prayer signifies and implies that the believers gather in a place with the sole intention to worship their Lord together. It is absolutely obligatory that the ‘Jumuah’ or mid-day Friday prayer is prayed by a gathering of the believers at an appointed place, listen to the sermon of the speaker, and then offer a two-rakah prayer in congregation altogether. If for any reason one is late or misses the two-rakaats congregational prayer of ‘Jumuah’, he cannot re-pray the two-rakaats Jumuah prayer by himself, but must pray a normal four-rakah Dhuhr prayer. Our sisters can also participate in the Jumuat salaat if the local masjid has sisters facilities in the masjid.
Ibn 'Umar reports that the Prophet (saws) said: "Do not prevent the women from going to the mosques, although their houses are better for them."Related by Ahmad and Abu Dawud. It is indeed true and accurate that the Messenger of Allah (saws) guided the believing women that although it is permissible for them to offer their prayers in congregation with the believers in the mosques, it is better for them to offer their prayers at home, declaring that their prayers at home are more meritorious and earn more reward in the Sight of Allah than their prayers in the mosques. if for any reason the believing woman wishes to listen to the sermon and offer the prescribed ‘Jumuah’ prayer, she can attend the ‘Jumuah’ gathering and offer her prayers in congregation with the believers but must dress appropriately and avoid using perfume as it can cause fitnah to the men when she is passing by or in the masjid.
Some Jumuat Sunnahs are;
Jummah preparations should begin on Thursday such as clipping the nails, removing of the hair etc. To have a bath (Ghusl). To wear nice clothes. To proceed early as possible to the Masjid for Jummah. To walk to the Masjid if possible for every step is a reward. One should listen very attentively to the khutba even if one does not understand. One should not speak or even warn another to keep quite while the khutba is in progress. To try to sit as close as possible to the Imaam. If the Saffs (rows) are already filled, one should not jump over the shoulders of the musallies in order to get to the front. One should not fiddle with clothes or fingers but listen attentively. Between the two khutba’s one should make dua. Reciting Suuratul Kahf. “Whoever recites Surat al-Kahf on Friday, light shall shine forth for him between the two Fridays.” Rasulallah (Pbuh) is reported to have said, “Recite Salawaat upon me in abundance on the day of Jummah since they are presented to me.”Making abundant dua on this day. Rasuulallah (Pbuh) said: “There is such an hour on Friday that if any Muslim makes dua in it, his dua will definitely be accepted.”
May Allah aid us to be able to follow these sunnahs and may Allah accept our little effort, forgive our mistakes, forgive our sins and grant us Jannatul Firdaus with His Rahmah. Aameen.
