DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm As-Sabt. 28th day of Muharram, 1446AH (Saturday, 3rd August 2024).
Deliberately anticipating the movements of the imaam (when praying in congregation) continues. BismilLah.
Assalaamu Alaikum WarahmatulLah. Please accept my apology as I forgot to continue with this topic from the Thursday reminder.
The reminder on last Thursday was about the fact that many people rush in following the imaam movement either too haste and end up overtaking the imam in any movement or too slow which can lead to missing lots of rewards or even missing a complete rakaah.
Some people get confused about this issue and seek to compensate by delaying their movements after the imaam; these people should know that the fuqahaa (our learned Imams), may ALLAH have mercy on them, have described an excellent way to control the matter, which is that the person following the imaam should only start his movements after the imaam has finished pronouncing the last (“bar”) of “Allaahu ak"bar"; then the person following the imaam is permitted to move, and not before or after. The Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) used to be very keen to avoid anticipating his movements when he led them in prayer. One of them, al-Baraa’ ibn ‘Aazib (may ALLAH be pleased with him) said that they used to pray behind the Prophet (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him): “When he raised his head from rukuu’, I would never see anyone bending his back in sujuud until the Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) had placed his forehead on the ground, then everyone would go down in sujuud behind him.” (Reported by Muslim, no. 474, ‘Abd al-Baaqi edition). May ALLAH keep guiding us all and forgive our shortcomings in Salaat. Aameen.
