DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS.  Yaumul al-ithnayn. 3rd day of Ramadhan. (Monday, 4th of April, 2022). What level of intimacy are we allowed between spouses? Are we allowed to flirt, gently touch, kiss, or hug our spouses while fasting. Bismillah.

In optional fasts, all the above-mentioned acts are permitted so long as one does not engage in sexual intercourse. In obligatory fasts like Ramadan, one is allowed to do these ONLY IF one can control himself or herself. Breaking a Ramadhan fast through sexual intercourse is a serious offence; it entails a severe form of kaffarah (expiation), which involves fasting two months consecutively; if one cannot do this, one must feed sixty poor persons for a single day of fast.

Therefore, no conscientious Muslim should contemplate such activities while fasting if there is a risk of overstepping the boundaries. If there is no such fear, then light touching, or kissing, etc., when not accompanied by sexual desire, is permissible. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked by a young man whether he can kiss his wife while fasting, he replied, "No", but when an elderly person came and asked him the same question, he replied, "Yes".

Reasons for this are clear: While it may be easier for an elderly person to control himself, that may not be the case with respect to a young person.

As far as the Prophet's own example is concerned, his beloved wife, our mother A'ishah may ALLAH be pleased with her  reports that the Prophet used to kiss his wives whiles he was fasting. But then she added the following comment, "Who among you can control his sexual desire as the Prophet himself was able to control?"

In conclusion, since each person knows his own weaknesses better than others, he should exercise his own discretion in this matter. Thus, he is best advised to take necessary precautions when dealing with mandatory fasts. In case of voluntary fasts, however, because it does not involve any serious consequences if one were to break it because of uncontrollable sexual desire, the issue is far more flexible.

May ALLAH keeps guiding us through our little efforts to act only for His sake. Aameen.

Let's remind  ourselves that ALLAH does not love stubborn rejectors of faith, committing sins, and showing ingratitude. ALLAH says: فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْكَافِرِينَ Verily, ALLAH does not love the unbelievers. Qur'an 3:32. Why? Bcs their disbelief in ALLAH and HIS Messenger only grant them the Hellfire. And ALLAH says: وَاللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ أَثِيمٍ ALLAH does not love any ungrateful sinner. Quran 2:276. ALLAH does not love arrogance, pride, boasting to one another, extravagance, and exultation in wrongdoing. ALLAH says: إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ مُخْتَالًا فَخُورًا Verily, ALLAH does not love those who are proud and boastful. Surah An-Nisa 4:36.  THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Al-Khamis. 25th day of RAJAB, 1444AH (Thursday 16th February. 2023). TOLERANCE WITH PEOPLE IN ISLAM. BismilLaah.  Tolerance (samah) is an important trait of a Muslim’s good character. We Muslims should be kind and gentle, patient with people, forgiving of bad character, and lenient whenever possible. The Prophet Mohammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam commanded us to avoid causing unnecessary difficulty and hardship in people’s lives and to inspire people with graceful speech. Make things easy and do not make things difficult. Give glad tidings and do not repel people. Cooperate with each other and do not become divided. Sahih Bukhari 2873, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi. This command is closely related to the need of a Muslim to control his or her anger. Unrestrained anger leads to numerous sins and bad deeds, so Muslims must temper their anger with patience, tolerance, and the ability to hold back harmful words. Teasing, mockery, insults to others et...
THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaum As-Sabt. 17th day of Jumaadal Aakhir.. (Saturday 30th January 2021). A SERIOUS CONDITION TO FULFILL FOR ALLAH TO ANSWER OUR DUA. BismilLah Consuming haraam wealth is one of the major reason why du’aa’s are not answered. Abu Hurayrah (may ALLAAH be pleased with him) said: the Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) said: “O people, ALLAAH is Good and only accepts that which is good. ALLAAH commanded the pious to follow the same commandments as HE gave to the Messengers. HE says; ‘O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Tayyibaat [all kinds of Halaal (lawful) foods which ALLAAH has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, fruits)] and do righteous deeds. Verily, I am Well-Acquainted with what you do’ [al-Mu’minoon 23:51]. ‘O you who believe (in the Oneness of ALLAAH, Islamic Monotheism)! Eat of the lawful things that I have provided you with’ [al-Baqarah 2:172]. Another important point is to rea...
