How do we understand the meaning of Obedience to ALLAH and HIS Messenger?. Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem.

Obedience has two definitions based on studies of Qur'aan and Teachings of the Prophet. One meaning of obedience to ALLAH is linguistic and the other technical.

Linguistically, obedience means agreement and submission to comply with what someone in authority orders. These are rules of rulers but MUST not go against the orders of the Creator (ALLAH).

Technically, obedience is abiding by the orders of ALLAH, the Creator, owner of anything that exists and avoiding HIS prohibitions. ALLAH is The Creator, The Commander. So, all people must do whatever HE orders. ALLAH says: ………HIS is the Creation and Commandment. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the Aalameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists) [7:54].

Lets note that obedience to ALLAH opens doors to receive HIS sustenance for us and our disobedience blocks us from receiving HIS sustenance on us so we end up relying on haraam alternative from sheitan through zina to make money, through Riba to make money, through gambling, theft etc to maket money. These means are only a source of our destruction to hell due to our disobedience to ALLAH.
May ALLAH aid us to obey HIM fully and protect us from any obedience to sheitan. Aameen.

ALLAH says: إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ مُخْتَالًا فَخُورًا Verily, ALLAH does not love those who are proud and boastful. Surah An-Nisa 4:36.
