The command to purify our hearts from sins was an essential Islamic teaching ever since the early stages of the revelation in Macca. This is known as “purification of the soul” (tazkiyyatun-nafs).  ALLAH says: HE has succeeded who purifies the soul, and he has failed who corrupts the soul. Surah Ash-Shams 91:9-10. Also ALLAH says: A day when there will be no benefit in wealth or children, but only in he who comes  to ALLAH with a pure heart. Surah Ash-Shu’ara 26:88-89.  We learn from these verses that our success in the Hereafter depends upon the purification of our hearts in this life. Ash-Shura 42:49/50. So people are divided into four categories when it comes to blessings with children: some are given daughters, some are given sons, some are given both sons and daughters, and some are not given either sons or daughters, but they are rendered barren, with no offspring. BismilLah.  Scholars of Islaam based on Quran, Sunnah and the consensus of all scholars have  said that: “Belief is a statement of the tongue, sincerity of the heart and actions of the limbs. It increases with the increase of good deeds and decreases due to decreases in good deeds. So it will increase and decrease due to that (one’s deeds). Faith is not complete by the statement of the tongue except with actions. Both statements of the tongue and actions are not complete except with intention (purely for ALLAH'S sake). Statement of the tongue, actions and intentions are not complete unless they are in accordance with the Quran and sunnah.” This is a simple formula but that's the foundation of good faith. BismilLah.  It was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam to supplicate and pray to ALLAH to guide his enemies of Islam and to benefit them in the Hereafter. Islam teaches us to love for others what we love for ourselves. Each one of us wants to be guided and, therefore, we should ask ALLAH to guide others even if they are unbelievers, sinners, or oppressors. Islam is a beautiful religion and only teaches what's right.  We should supplicate for guidance and forgiveness for people in general. It is the essence of ALLAH to be forgiving and mericful, and the Angels roam the earth seeking forgiveness for everyone upon it. BismilLah.  ISLAM teaches us to be merciful to the entire creation, to Muslims and non-Muslims, to friends and enemies and even to the animals, trees, rocks etc. Mercy (Raḥmah) in Islam has a very wide meaning that includes kindness, compassion, love, tolerance, patience with people, and to treat others the way we would love to be treated. This Islamic value is at the core of the prophetic message and meaning of faith, just as it was in all of the revealed religions before Islam.
