ALLAH the Exalted says in the Qur’an: “And (remember) the Day when the wrong-doer will bite his hands and say: Woe to me! Would that I had taken a path with the Messenger. Woe to me! Indeed, he fought so bravely and was killed.” The Prophet said, “He will go to Hellfire.” Some of the people began to have doubts as someone said he was alive although severely wounded. Patience is one of the most important qualities demanded of those who claim to love ALLAH, as the degree of patience determines those who are sincere in their claim and those who are not. The degree of patience needed to endure hardship and difficulties in order to please the Beloved proves the sincerity of one’s love. We need to know al-Fattah when we feel that things are impossible or too difficult because ALLAH (swt) necessarily invites you to know HIM by this Name in those circumstances. Sheikh Al-Ghazali explained his understanding about al-Fattah, he said  “ALLAH is the One by Whose concern everything that is closed is opened.” If I tell you to open the door, it must mean that the door is closed. If it is already open you would probably give me a funny look. So what does this mean? ALLAH al-Fattah opens the things that are closed. The command to purify our hearts from sins was an essential Islamic teaching ever since the early stages of the revelation in Macca. This is known as “purification of the soul” (tazkiyyatun-nafs).  ALLAH says: HE has succeeded who purifies the soul, and he has failed who corrupts the soul. Surah Ash-Shams 91:9-10. Also ALLAH says: A day when there will be no benefit in wealth or children, but only in he who comes  to ALLAH with a pure heart. Surah Ash-Shu’ara 26:88-89. We learn from these verses that our success in the Hereafter depends upon the purification of our hearts in this life. In his Farewell Sermon, our beloved  Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam warned that bloodshed leads to unbelief. Jareer ibn Abdullah may ALLAH be pleased with him reported: The Messenger of ALLAH, peace and blessings be upon him, asked me to make the people silent on the occasion of the farewell pilgrimage, and then the Prophet said among the many warnings that, “Do not return to unbelief after me by killing each other.” Sahih Bukhari 121, Sahih Muslim 65. Be mindful of ALLAH, and HE will take care of you. Be mindful of HIM, and you shall find HIM at your side. If you ask, ask of ALLAH. If you need help, seek it from ALLAH. Know that if the whole world were to gather together in order to help you, they would not be able to help you except if ALLAH had written so. And if the whole world were to gather together in order to harm you, they would not be able harm you except if ALLAH had written so. ALLAH in the Quran praised those who respond to evil with good deeds. Those who repel evil with good will find that their enemies will become their friends. ALLAH says: Not equal are the good deed and the bad deed. Repel evil by that which is better, and then the one who is hostile to you will become as a devoted friend. But none is granted it except those who are patient and none is granted it except one having a great fortune. Quran 41:34-35. Sheikh Ibn Abbas may ALLAH be pleased with him commented on this verse, saying: ALLAH commands the believers to be patient when they feel angry, to be forbearing when confronted with ignorance, and to forgive when they are mistreated. Let's avoid argument about wishing, celebrating etc as the kuffar does. It's unnecessary as argument only creates hatred and division which is forbidden and serious. The word "Muharram" means "Forbidden from the root word Haraam."  Even before Islam, this month was always known as a scared month (al ashhur-al-hurum) in which all unlawful acts were forbidden, prominently the shedding of blood. Muharram can also mean “sacred”,concerning which it is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an: “Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred.
